Today in Cleveland, only 62% of Cleveland Metropolitan School District's 50,000 students graduate on time. In the fifth grade, just 39% of those students score proficient in reading and only 26% of students score proficient in mathematics. Also, the majority of Cleveland Metropolitan School District students, aged 6-17, do not have a safe, structured environment to go after school.
City Year Cleveland collaborates with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to establish strategic elementary, middle and high school grade student intervention programs to get these at-risk students back on track to graduate. City Year Cleveland corps members tutor, mentor, run after-school programs to help children and schools succeed.
You can make a difference in these student’s lives and communities by joining City Year Cleveland.
